[ QUESTIONS ]

BB-IQ — common questions

What is BB-IQ?
BB-IQ is a blood bank information system. It holds one unbroken record from donor registration through screening, component separation, storage and cross-matching to transfusion at the bedside, across 15+ integrated modules.
How does RFID tracking work in BB-IQ?
Units carry RFID tags, so the system knows where every bag is at any moment rather than where it was last written down. Real-time alerts cover storage conditions and movement, which is the part a manual register cannot do.
Can BB-IQ tell us our stock position quickly?
The stock board is built to be read in about three seconds — availability by blood group and component, live, without anyone running a report.
Does BB-IQ handle rare blood groups?
Yes, through a rare blood group registry, so a rare requirement is a lookup rather than a series of phone calls.
Is BB-IQ only for hospital-attached blood banks?
No. It fits standalone blood banks and hospital-attached units alike. In a hospital running MED-IQ, a unit issued in BB-IQ is recorded against the same admission.
Does BB-IQ cover regulatory reporting?
Yes, reporting is built in rather than compiled by hand before an inspection.
